The Ax-pedition is now in its 3rd year and because of its great success and your amazing feedback, we are once again running the Ax-pedition for 2017. This year we are building on what made the Ax-pedition great and making some minor changes to make it even better.
We worked hard to develop two routes that are demanding and will test your cycling ability whilst you put the pedal to the metal through three different counties (Devon, Somerset and Dorset). This is a charity sportive so any proceeds made from this event will be supporting our amazing charities.
Check out the full details of the Ax-pedition below, it's more than just a cycle event!
Registration for signing in and collecting your rider details opens at 7:30am. There will then be a staggered release of riders for the two routes from 8:00am full details will be realesed closer to the event.
Foodstations will be located at regular mileage intervals around your chosen ride. These stations will keep you topped up with food and drink to make sure you have enough energy to complete your chosen route.
All our routes are fully signposted! During sign in on the day you will be shown the signs that you will need to follow to complete your chosen route.
You will be able to download a GPX file from the routes page so that your route can be set up on your chosen GPS device before the event.
Fully trained mechanics will be available on the day to fix any issues you experience that you cannot fix yourself. It is recommended every rider carries at least two spare inner tubes and a small lightweight tool. You will be given our emergency number to contact a mechanic during sign in.
We think it is important to encourage the next generation of cyclists that is why we are happy for children aged between 14-16 years old to join the Ax-pedition. On the day registration is required for children, please make sure you bring valid ID as proof of age. Riders under the age of 16 must also be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All participants under the age of 18 must submit a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. Parental consent forms are available for download here.
This event is not a race, you will be riding on public roads that will be open to other traffic, so normal highway rules apply. Any dangerous spots will be marshalled but keep your eyes peeled and respect other road users.
All riders MUST wear an approved cycle helmet
At the finish line we are holding fun and games for your family to enjoy whilst you are completing your route and for you to enjoy on your return. All the proceeds raised through the fun & games will also be supporting our chosen charity. The entertainment includes:
